ANASTASIA – SILVER MEDALIST OF THE WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP!
From 3rd to 9th of October in Morocco, the final stage of the World Cup cross-country rally FIM Rally Oilibya du Maroc. At the start there were 82 motorcycle and quad party together with the amateur offset Enduro Cup. Of these, 56 riders and 4 quad bike in the official FIM Championships and 12 riders and 10 quads in the Enduro Cup. Russia in this competition represented racer from the team Motorace X-Team, vice-champion of Russia 2013 Anastasiya Nifontova motorbike HUSQVARNA 450FE and Dmitry Agoshkov from the team at Troyka Team KTM 450EXC.
Participants had to overcome a total distance of about 2000 km (on special areas had 1500 km) from Erfoud via Zagora in Marrakech. Moroccan stage is interesting because it combines almost all types of soil – sand and dunes, to challenging mountain roads with passes at an altitude of more than 1600m.
It attracts the most famous riders of the planet to conduct final tests and training before the trip to Dakar. At this time, the race gives a very dramatic for the factory team HONDA.
The first days unconditionally led Juan Barreda, second behind him was the reigning world champion Paolo Goncalves. Do Hondas have all chances to win the podium and get the winning cup in the constructors standings, but luck was on the side of the more experienced riders KTM. Russian racer Anastasiya Nifontova also made a breakthrough in the framework of the national motorsport. In the overall standings with men, she finished in the 31y position (60-of) and was second in the women’s standings, behind only reached the 10 time World Champion Trials and repeated world champion in enduro Spaniard Laye Sanz and beating an experienced opponent, former 6x world champion in cross- Country Rally Camellia Liparotti.
Thanks to such a successful season finale Nastya managed as close as possible to the title of world champion and become a silver medalist women’s World Cup in 2014 with a delay of only 1 point. For the first time in history of motorsport Russian athlete achieves such a high score in the category of cross-country rally for the first time in the history of the Russian woman is one of three winners to compete in motorsport at the highest international level.We hope that the next season will be able to find a decent Nifontova sponsors and with their support, it will be able to compete for the title.
