Four motorcyclists converting from Cheras, Kuala Lumpur to Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan during a ban on the Movement Control Command (PKP) were sentenced to a fine of RM1,000 and seven days’ jail by the Jelebu Magistrate’s Court today.
Magistrate Rahimah Rahim sentenced her to Ng Kim Seang, 34; Woo Soon You, 30; Low Yen Lai, 26, and Teoh Chun Ann, 31, both pleaded guilty to charges after being read by a court interpreter.
According to the charge sheet, the accused together on March 29 at 9:30 am on Jalan Titi Besar were found to be moving from another location, from Cheras, Kuala Lumpur to Titi, Jelebu when the CPP order was executed.
Therefore, all the accused were found guilty under Regulation 3 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Areas) 2020 (PPPB) punishable under Rule 7 of the PPPB and read with Section 34 of the Code The torture.
Rahimah also ordered the accused to serve a three-month jail term if he failed to pay the fine while the jail sentence was held from the date of arrest.
Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Amirul Noor Hashimi prosecuted while all the accused were not represented by lawyers.
The media previously reported that four motorcyclists were arrested by police after a convoy from Cheras to Jelebu despite knowing the CPP was being implemented nationwide since March 18.
