Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (‘HLYM’) has achieved another monumental milestone of producing five million motorcycles since its inception in 1979, marking more than 4 decades of quality, innovation and excellence.
This achievement is credit to HLYM’s improved production capabilities, as the Company focuses on increasing automation and implementing advanced systems in its processes. In a grand celebration at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at I-City, Shah Alam, the Company also launched the Yamaha 135LC (Fi) 5MRO Malaysian Edition. The new model sports the colors of the Malaysian flag to signify that it would only be produced in Malaysia. Mr. Tim Hoo, the General Manager of Marketing & META, also announced that only 5,000 units of this limited-edition motorcycle will be available in Malaysia. They will come with a unique serial number beginning with 5,000,0001 to 5,005,000, a Yamaha Premium Basket, and a special certificate of authenticity.
Also present at the event were Mr. Yoshihiro Hidaka, President and Representative Director of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd, Japan, Datuk Wee Hong, Chairman of Malaysia Motorcycle and Scooter Dealers Association, Datuk Kwek Leng San, President and CEO, Hong Leong Manufacturing Group, and Dato’ Dr. Jim Khor Mun Wei, Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Industries Berhad and Managing Director of HLYM.
In his speech, Dato’ Dr. Jim Khor pointed out that this was HLYM’s fastest million-milestone ever reached. This further proves that HLYM is still one of the most preferred motorcycles in the country.
HLYM aspires to integrate Yamaha products into their customers’ daily lives by creating a seamless experience that transitions into a comprehensive and inclusive Yamaha Digital Mobility Lifestyle. The new model will be available at all authorized Yamaha dealers nationwide from mid-October 2022 onwards, at a retail price of RM9, 198.00 excluding registration fees and insurance coverage. Owners of the new model will also receive a disc lock and a special commemorative 5MRO Bomber Jacket as an exclusive gift with their purchase.
