Solid start for Mohamad  Kanafi at Race One KTM 390 Duke Battle 2014 – Final round — at Sepang International Circuit.

straight_2Mohamad Kanafi Kamarudin made a solid start on race one of the KTM 390 Duke Battle 2014 Final being hosted in Sepang International Circuit. Kanifi came out first out of 15 riders in the wet afternoon race. Abdul Wafi pipped Muhamad Imran to second place in the last lap of the seven lap race. They are in the running for first prize winner of a KTM Duke 200.

paddock_6Mohamad Kanafi Kamarudin (Muar round five winner) made a solid start on Race of the 2014 Duke Battle Final being hosted in Sepang International Circuit. Kanifi came out first out of 15 riders in the wet afternoon race. Abdul Wafi (round one winner) pipped Muhamad Imran (Sintok, Kedah round two runner-up) to second place in the last lap of the seven lap race. They are in the running for first prize of a KTM Duke 200.

The participants all winner and runner-up respectively of their round of the seven leg Duke Battles carried out across Malaysia in conjunction with KBS 4 Hour Endurance. There was an additional round at Elite Speedway Circuit which held race for the media, which was won by Bikes Republic’s Adam Muza and i-Moto’s RC Moto in second overall in the media race .

Qualifying was omitted as there were heavy down pour at qualifying time. Instead KTM CKD decided to use the best time of the free practice for position of the race one.

Vinod Dhanabala Singham (Sintok, Kedah round two winner) made a solid ride to come in forth and Mohammad Fairuz fifth.

Our media challenge slide out in the wet race at turn one on the first lap, when dicing for front position, but manage to complete the 7 lap race even using only 5th and 6th gear for the whole race. Other media rider Adam Muza came in 11th. Other rider in the top ten was Hairi Zakaria (2013 Asian Supermoto champion) Ahmad Idham Khairuddin (Moto3 Khairuddin Zulfahmi brother)

paddock_8Philip Moller, Technical Manager of the KTM CKD Factory in Jitra, say: “Kanafi was very good today. He made no mistakes in the wet and his goal is to win the overall competition. 

Race Two will be held today, and the decide overall winner.
