The Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2014 will return for its 24rd edition from the 24th to 26th October 2013. SIC with title sponsor Shell Advance launched the Malaysian MotoGP in a glitzy ceremony at the Sunway SOJU attended by YBhg Tan Sri Mokhzani Tun Mahathir, Chairman of SIC, YBhg Datuk Razlan Razali, CEO of SIC, YBhg Tan Sri Mohamamed Azman Yahaya, Ms Kirsten Chong, Marketing Manager, Shell Lubricants Malaysia and Singapore, National Moto3 rider Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin and Amirul Hafiq Azmi.
The event was kicked off by Dato’ Razlan Razali, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sepang International Circuit (SIC) with the announcement of Shell Advance having renewed its commitment as the title sponsor of the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix for the next two years. Dato’ Razlan echoed his confidence in a record attendance of over 120,000 over three days or 80,000 fans on race day, Sunday this year following the extensive promotional tour of South East Asia in particular Thailand and Indonesia as well as the unprecedented representation of five local riders at the Malaysian Grand Prix 2014, including a wildcard entry in the form of Spanish CEV rider Kuala Terrengganu-born Muhammad Hafiza Rofa.
Fans also can get to enjoy the biggest ever and most happening off-track experience with the participation of more than 70 trades and vending operators including all of the world’s major bike manufacturers.
Present at the launch was local hero Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin & Amirul Hafiq Azmi who represents Malaysia’s best hopes of a podium finish in the Moto3 Category. Zulfahmi hopes to make the best of the home ground advantage. The young sensation Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah, who finished a sensational 8th position the British Grand Prix Moto2 race and Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman has been confirmed for entry in the Moto2 class. Our Malaysian riders have proven that they are capable of matching the world’s best riders and will be inspired to to deliver a strong performance in front of a massive home crowd next month.
Razlan also emphasized on the development aspects of the sports in Malaysia and Asia with the with Shell Advance Talent Cup has chosen SIC as it’s official headquarters. “This event which is the support race will see 7 our our young Malaysian riders going against riders from Asia and South East Asia as well a the strong young Japanese riders for a place in the podium. The Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup which is a feeder series for Asian motorcycle stars of the future, will provide a fantastic opportunity to produce new and exciting talents in the motorcycling world, as it aims to give riders from the Asian region a strong stepping-stone into on-track racing.
