DUCATI ZERO! AN ELECTRIC DUCATI IS COMING.

While Ducati doesn’t currently have any production electric motorcycles to its name, the famed Italian motorcycle manufacturer looks like it has ventured to the EV path.

Ducati has produced multiple electric bicycles in partnership with other companies. The company also previously worked with the Milan Polytechnic School of Design to develop an electric Ducati concept, the Ducati Zero.

The company’s CEO Claudio Domenicali was even spotted riding an electric conversion Ducati Hypermotard that had been gifted a Zero FX powertrain.

If Ducati ever builds an electric motorcycle, it could look like this Ducati Zero futuristic design concept.

Design students Bart Heijt, Fernando Pastre and Raquel Villani came up with this design for an electric-powered Ducati in a collaborative project with the Italian motorcycle manufacturer.

The “Zero” logo on the side of the Ducati Zero changes colour depending on which driving mode the rider selects. They can choose from green for eco, white for strada (street) or red for corsa (race track) which are the same colours as the Italian flag.

The vertical DLR and Zero logo also double as indicator lights.

You can even see the electric motor through a transparent part in the body and there are big airflow ducts to cool the batteries.

Ducati, there are no doubt plans for an electric motorcycle.

After all, BMW has an electric scooter and plans electric motorcycles, the Japanese manufacturers are all working on electric bikes and scooters, and even Harley-Davidson says it will sell its Livewire electric within four years.

Ducati is definitely putting the Zero idea on the drawing board, and we definitely looking forward to seeing one in 2021? So stay tune.

Managing Director of Ducati Western Europe Edouard Lotthé spoke about electric scooters and cycle plans – that they might come out around 2021. Even making electric powertrains for previous bikes has already been seen, when Domenicali was spotted riding a Ducati Hypermotard with a Zero FX engine.
