YAMAHA XSR900 A STYLE THAT STANDS OUT ON ITS OWN

While we are waiting to review the latest 2021 Yamaha MT09 and 2021 XSR900, we jump to the opportunity to review the 2018 XSR900, the XSR900 is a blend of Yamaha’s MT09 engineering with standout neo-retro style, creating a new type of machine for riders looking for an authentic and honest motorcycle that doesn’t sacrifice performance. Drawing influence from Yamaha’s classic “XS” series of motorcycles, the XSR oozes class with its exposed aluminum details, retro-influenced bodywork, stepped seat and custom lighting and instrumentation. This CBU XSR900 is the only unit registered in Malaysia and we are grateful to Hong Leong Yamaha Motors to be able to review it for 10 days!

The 2018 XSR900 features a thrilling 847cc Crossplane Crankshaft liquid-cooled inline 3-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve-per-cylinder engine based on the 2018 MT-09. The compact motor offers the best balance of both 2- and 4-cylinder designs with an exciting, torquey and quick-revving engine character.

The XSR900 combines a classic heritage with modern performance. Featuring ride-by-wire YCC-T® engine control, adjustable D-MODE throttle response, and an adjustable Traction Control System, the rider can make the most of the potent engine and chassis coupled with ABS.

The adjustable front and rear suspension allows the rider to customize their XSR900 to match the road conditions and personal preferences. Suspension we do say much better that the MT09 series.

With the 60th Anniversary which is yellow and black does make the XSR900 a head turner and stands out on its own.

This XSR900 will not be available for Malaysian market but you can get your hands on two other new big bike models. The first high-performance model is the all new 2022 Yamaha MT-09. This model offers an explosion of power with its high torque of 93.0Nm @ 7,000rpm and power output from its 889cc 3-Cylinder engine.

Next to be launch by the end of the year will be the new 2022 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT. Also powered by the 889cc 3-Cylinder engine which offers a maximum power of 87.5kW @ 10,000 rpm along with a sophisticated 2 monitor TFT meter, this premium high performance touring machine is a lifestyle road conqueror.
