The 2024 MotoGP™ Sepang Shakedown Test concluded with Pedro Acosta of Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 emerging as the fastest rider, showcasing remarkable performance by setting a time of 1:58.189 on the final day. Despite encountering minor crashes, Acosta demonstrated his potential, leading the likes of Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR).

Acosta’s impressive performance, despite the setbacks, has set a positive tone for his team as they head into the Official Sepang Test. Utilizing KTM’s carbon chassis on both GASGAS bikes on the final day hinted at the team’s direction for the upcoming season. With three more testing days ahead, Acosta, along with his teammates and competitors, is poised to explore new parts and strategies.

Pol Espargaro, representing Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, expressed confidence in his team’s preparation for the season, emphasizing his improved physical condition after a rigorous winter training regimen. He also acknowledged Acosta’s quick adaptation to the bike, indicating the Austrian factory’s strong position going into the Sepang Test.

Notably, the teams have intensified their focus on aerodynamics for the 2024 season. Innovations such as KTM’s front fender wing, Aprilia’s ‘Batmobile’ rear wing, Honda’s upgraded ‘stegosaurus’ rear wing, and Ducati’s additional ground effect side panel fairing updates were observed during the Shakedown, reflecting the continuous pursuit of performance enhancements across the grid.
