“With the opening of Shell Recharge’s high-performance charging hub at one of the highest altitudes in Malaysia, we mark a significant milestone in our efforts to create seamless charging connectivity for electric vehicles. Two years ago, we launched our first Shell Recharge HPC facility in Tangkak, Johor, followed by seven more along the North-South Highway just eight months later. Today’s achievement further strengthens our commitment to expanding innovative e-mobility solutions nationwide, ensuring speed, range, and connectivity for users,” said Seow Lee Ming, General Manager of Shell Mobility, Malaysia.
Lee Ming added that EV drivers can look forward to more announcements from Shell Malaysia soon, as they work to develop a reliable high-performance charging infrastructure along the East Coast Highway.
To celebrate the opening of Malaysia’s largest high-performance EV charging hub at the highest altitude, Shell Recharge hosted a media convoy featuring the Porsche Taycan, showcasing the 360kW charging speed and providing an accessible and convenient charging solution for visitors to this premier resort destination.
“Our first electric sports car has made a significant impact since its introduction in 2019. We are proud to partner with Shell Malaysia and Genting Malaysia to provide Malaysia’s first 360kW high-performance charging facility,” said Christopher Hunter, CEO of Sime Darby Auto Performance, representing Porsche Malaysia.
Hunter continued, “With our latest Taycan model, charging the battery from 10% to 80% takes only about 18 minutes using Shell Recharge’s 360kW DC high-power charger. Soon, Resorts World Genting will become a favorite destination for Taycan drivers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.”
Spencer Lee, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing and MICE at Genting Malaysia Berhad, stated, “The Shell Recharge EV hub not only accelerates our efforts to become Malaysia’s most EV-friendly tourist destination but also reinforces Resorts World Genting’s commitment to a sustainable future. We are proud to host one of Malaysia’s largest sustainable business platforms, the Genting SustainBiz F&B Expo, this September 2024. As a premier resort in Malaysia, we are dedicated to providing exceptional services.”
