SKYZONE Racing’s Christopher Hodgson was crowned overall IMF 2014 Supermoto Elite Champion and his teammate Jay Smith took second place result following three tough days of competition.34

chris-hodgson (Medium)The inaugural International Motorcycle Festival 2014 held at Bukit Jalil Stadium  was one of the toughest  and most challenging supermoto race ever held in Malaysia. Super wet weather condition in Malaysia mix with some seriously technical supermoto track design by Colin Robin, the terrain ensured the riders gave their best performance.

Chris Hodgson enters the IMF track as British Supermoto Champion and hot favourite to win the race after setting the fastest time on Saturday’s qualifying. Following closely was his teammate Jay Smith, and Team CRT Lewis Cornish, followed by Habibullah Mohd Salleh (Gabit) ,  Edgar Ivushkans, Hairi Zakaria, Muhammad Hasroy and Al-Amirul.

On the last race of the Elite class on Sunday, Chris start from the back of the grid, pushing on to the finish line, and secured a well-deserved second place result, and overall champion of the Supermoto Elite class.

Placing one position behind Chris, Skyzone’s KTM Jay Smith ended his race in second overall after two second place finish and a race win on Sunday.

In race 3 Gabit retired in third position lap 4 with bike problem.8

Asian Supermoto champion Hairi Zakaria took overall third by finishing third in two races and a sixth place in race one.
