Rossi expected to put Yamaha’s new R1 through its paces in the coming weeks prior to the next round at Phillip Island on October 19th
Valentino Rossi is set to test the new Yamaha R1 in the build-up to the Australian MotoGP.
Reports in Italy suggest the rider may put the bike through its paces in the coming weeks with Gazetta claiming that it will be completed between the Japanese MotoGP at Motegi on October 12th and the Australian leg at Phillip Island on October 19th.
Yamaha has previously released a teaser video of the new R1 suggesting that it could be unveiled at the EIMCA show in Milan in just a few weeks on November 3. However, the manufacturer has yet to confirm these plans.
The new R1 is based on its previous incarnation and will feature a four-cylinder crossplane crank engine as opposed to the three-cylinder version which was predicted a few years ago.
Rossi is thought to get the chance to test the new model after the Japanese MotoGP, a race where Marc Marquez can claim the championship title.
