PROTON’s manufacturer team has gone through many different shapes and forms since its inception, with its current guise in the shape of the PROTON R3 Motorsports.
The R3 Limited Edition embracing the R3 Spirit
Reintroducing the famous name – PROTON R3 Limited Edition – a name familiar to many long-term Proton fans, the Proton Iriz and Saga R3 Limited Edition celebrate PROTON’s successful motorsports division. The R3 badge has always been reserved for the sportiest Proton models and both the Iriz and Saga are worthy recipients of the moniker.
Each car is painted black and adorned with the distinctive R3 livery used on PROTON’s race cars. Grey R3 alloy wheels and a sporty body kit complete the outer changes while inside, a unique black-yellow interior, leatherette seats and R3 carpet mats create a distinctive ambiance with sporty appeal.
The Proton Saga and Iriz R3 Limited Edition carry over all the usual strengths of the cars they are based on, so you get excellent right handling, outstanding occupant protection and practical features as standard.
The R3 Fight and Win Spirit
Currently campaigned by R3, the Proton Saga was not only the first Proton Car, but also the first race car for PROTON. Till today, the current generation of Proton Saga is still being raced by the Proton R3 racing team while the Iriz Race car is one of the most successful platforms for local motorsport to date and is the reigning Malaysia Championship Series and Sepang 1000KM winner for 2019.
What sets the PROTON R3 team apart from the competition is the fact that everyone in the team has a strong “R3 Spirit” instilled in them – The “Fighting Spirit”, which is all about not giving up, even when the situation is dire and the “Winning Spirit”, which is about the fire to win.
