UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) recorded 4,700 units in January 2026, establishing a steady opening for the year amidst a competitive market environment. The result reflects steady market response across Toyota’s core segments, supported by a broad and well-established product line-up in the Malaysian market.

This early year performance underscores Toyota’s consistent presence in Malaysia, shaped by a wide ownership base and a continued focus on long-term value rather than short-term cycles. Guided by its “Best in Town” approach, UMWT remains committed to delivering a dependable and well-supported ownership experience, reinforcing customer confidence and preference through quality products, nationwide support, and trusted aftersales care.

“Chinese New Year is a time of renewal and togetherness, and for many Malaysians it also involves travelling to be with family,” said Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor. “During the festive period, peace of mind on the road matters even more. It comes from vehicles that are engineered to perform consistently over long journeys and supported by dependable care, so families can travel with confidence and focus on the moments that truly matter.”

Building Out a Broader Mobility Offering

Recent developments across Toyota’s range reflect continued progress under its Multipathway approach, which expands mobility options without leaving customers behind. The introduction of the GR Corolla with automatic transmission makes performance more accessible, while the recent launch of the Vios Hybrid Electric brings electrified mobility to one of Malaysia’s most trusted and widely owned nameplates. As the year progresses, Toyota will continue broadening its range of mobility technologies to support customers at different stages of adoption.

Supporting this expansion is UMWT’s investment in a local hybrid battery assembly facility at its Bukit Raja plant. Capable of assembling up to 30,000 hybrid battery units annually, the facility strengthens supply resilience and supports the scalable adoption of hybrid vehicles in Malaysia, ensuring electrified mobility can be expanded with local capability in place.

Ownership support has also been strengthened following the introduction of the Toyota Extend programme in December 2025, which provides eligible customers with greater long-term assurance through extended warranty coverage beyond the standard period. Available for selected models, Toyota Extend supports ownership confidence and vehicle value retention through authorised Toyota Service Centres nationwide.

In conjunction with the Chinese New Year festive period, UMW Toyota Motor is offering a range of festive promotions across selected Toyota models. With benefits valued at up to RM9,500 and monthly instalments starting from RM658, customers are supported with greater flexibility as they plan for the year ahead. Ownership affordability is further enhanced through the Toyota Service Savers programme, with cost-effective maintenance options from RM33 per month, providing added peace of mind throughout the festive season and beyond.
