As we all know, our motorcycle does not to stop immediately when you pinch the brakes, but we have to go through a process to stop completely. The distance needed in the middle is what we call the brake distance.

Although the brake distance can vary depending on the road friction factor and wheels, there is usually a data for everyone to refer. This reference distance is calculated by the criteria on friction factor 0.8 the formula follows:

Brake distance = Speed Square / (2 X Gravity Acceleration 9.8 x friction factor 0.8)

40 km / H: 7.87 m

50 km / H: 12.30 m

60 km / H: 17.72 m

70 km / H: 24.11 m

80 km / H: 31.49 m

90 km / H: 39.86 m

100 km / H: 49.21 m

150 km / H: 110.72 m

300 km / H: 442.89 m

Take a closer look at the data you can find that when speed multiply, you have to take four times the distance to stop a vehicle. When the faster the faster it is, the easier it is to get a car crash due to lack of brakes.
