Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn. Bhd. (HLYM) today introduced the locally assembled model (CKD) Yamaha MT-09, 4-stroke, 850 cc liquid cooled, 3-cylinder engine with fuel injection motorcycle. It is priced at RM45,000 excluding insurance and roadtax. Previously 100 units of CBU MT-09 was priced at RM54,000. This is the second locally assembled big bike model at its Sungai Buloh factory after the XJ series of XJ6, XJ6 Diversion and XJ6 Diversion F.
This 3-cylinder MT-09 CKD version is the direction of Yamaha in to penetrating the naked street bike market which is very popular here in Malaysia. The MT-09 can produce 115hp @ 10,000RPM with 87.5Nm of torque @ 8,500RPM. This combination will make the bike easy to accelerate since the engine is powerful and lightweight. MT means Maximum Torque which this new generation performance machine is designed for riders who appreciate character and soul is available at selected authorised Yamaha dealerships nationwide starting from mid December. The color choices are Deep Armor (Violet) and Blazing Orange.
