While rumors have been swirling online about a so-called “Turbo” model, don’t get it confused with Indonesia’s Aerox Turbo—that’s simply a variant name. In Malaysia, the NVX 155 SP shares the same platform, but with a cutting-edge feature that sets it apart: downshifting capability.
First in Its Class: 3-Step Downshifting
For the very first time on a scooter, Yamaha has introduced a press-paddle downshift button located on the left handlebar. Riders can tap the paddle up to three times for progressive engine braking—a function unheard of in conventional scooters.
- Cornering control: Riders can scrub off speed entering corners more naturally, just like engine braking on a manual bike.
- Hill climbing: Reduces lag when tackling steep roads, giving smoother uphill acceleration.
- Better safety: If the approach is too fast, riders can tap the paddle multiple times for stronger engine braking before tipping in.
Once the throttle is reapplied, the Yamaha Electronic CVT (YECVT) seamlessly takes back over, delivering smooth automatic performance.
