Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) is delighted to unveil the 2024 Yamaha Y16ZR, setting a new standard for sports mopeds in the market. Designed to captivate onlookers with its fresh aesthetics and innovative riding technologies, this model promises an elevated riding experience for motorcycle enthusiasts across Malaysia.
The 2024 Yamaha Y16ZR boasts a more assertive and sporty appearance, highlighted by the sleek contours of its new front fairing and visor. Enhanced with the latest Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and a larger front disc brake, the bike introduces heightened control and superior braking power, ensuring confident handling dynamics with every ride.
During the launch event, Professor Dato’ Dr. Jim Khor Mun Wei, Group Managing Director of HLYM, expressed, “This highly anticipated model is now unveiled to the public, and we are confident that the 2024 Yamaha Y16ZR not only delivers sophisticated style and performance but also incorporates advanced riding technologies in the premium moped category, enhancing the overall riding experience for Yamaha enthusiasts, be it daily commutes or weekend adventures.”
The 2024 Yamaha Y16ZR maintains its cutting-edge liquid-cooled 4-stroke, 4-valve, SOHC 155cc engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). Paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring different ignition mapping for each gear, the engine produces a formidable 17.7 hp @ 9,500 rpm and a peak torque of 14.4 Nm @ 8,000 rpm. Additionally, the bike features an Assist and Slipper Clutch system, reducing clutch lever load for smoother gear changes during downshifting.
Available in three bold and stylish colors – Violet Knight, Ocean Neon, and Mag Grey – the 2024 Yamaha Y16ZR will be available at authorized Yamaha Dealers nationwide starting from the end of January 2024, with a recommended retail price (RRP) of RM11,398 (excluding registration fees and insurance coverage). Every purchase of this model will include a complimentary safety disc lock worth RM100.
To celebrate the launch, HLYM is hosting a 3-day roadshow in front of The StarHill, Kuala Lumpur.
