Malaysian MotoGP 2026: 80% Tickets Sold as Hakim Danish Prepares for Home Grand Prix Debut — SIC to Review Parking Rates

The countdown to the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia 2026 has officially begun, with Sepang International Circuit (SIC) announcing that 80% of tickets have already been sold ahead of the highly anticipated MotoGP weekend from 30 October to 1 November 2026.

This year’s Malaysian Grand Prix promises to be particularly special, as rising Malaysian racing sensation Hakim Danish prepares to compete in front of his home crowd as a Moto3 World Championship rider.

With the Premier Seat and Hakim Danish Tribune categories already sold out, organisers are expecting another strong turnout at Sepang.

Hakim Danish Takes Centre Stage at Sepang

One of the biggest attractions of this year’s Malaysian Grand Prix will undoubtedly be Hakim Danish, whose impressive performances on the international stage have captured the attention of Malaysian motorsports fans.

Following his historic Moto3 victory and maiden World Championship podium, the young Malaysian will now have the opportunity to race in front of thousands of home supporters.

His participation adds an exciting new dimension to the Malaysian Grand Prix, giving local fans a national hero to support on the world stage.

SIC Chief Executive Officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif expressed optimism over the upcoming event, highlighting the continued enthusiasm for MotoGP in Malaysia.

The 2025 Malaysian Grand Prix attracted an impressive 190,977 spectators, demonstrating the event’s popularity among local and international racing enthusiasts.

With 80% of tickets already sold for 2026, SIC is hoping to recreate, or even surpass, the electrifying atmosphere experienced last year.

SIC to Look Into Reducing Parking Rates

Apart from the racing action, parking costs remain an important consideration for spectators planning to attend the Malaysian Grand Prix.

SIC will look into the possibility of reducing parking rates, an initiative that could help ease the financial burden on fans travelling to Sepang, particularly those attending with family members or in larger groups.

Affordable parking would complement existing efforts to make MotoGP more accessible to Malaysians.

However, no revised parking rates or implementation details have been announced at this stage.

Any changes would be subject to further announcements from SIC.

MotoGP Malaysia Celebrates 35 Years of Racing Heritage

The 2026 edition marks another significant milestone, celebrating 35 years of Malaysia’s involvement in the MotoGP World Championship since 1991.

Sepang International Circuit has hosted the Malaysian Grand Prix since 1999 and remains one of the championship’s most recognisable venues.

Beyond the excitement of motorcycle racing, the Malaysian Grand Prix continues to play an important role in promoting sports tourism, attracting international visitors and creating economic opportunities for local businesses.

The event also provides inspiration for young Malaysian riders aspiring to compete internationally.

RM49.90 Tiket Rahmah Makes MotoGP More Accessible

Fans looking for an affordable way to experience MotoGP can take advantage of the Tiket Rahmah programme, with tickets priced at just RM49.90 for the K2 Hillstand.

The initiative supports the Malaysia MADANI agenda and aims to make international motorsports more accessible to families, students, young people and racing enthusiasts.

Minister of Youth and Sports YB Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari emphasised the importance of MotoGP Malaysia as a platform for national pride, tourism and talent development.

Through initiatives such as Tiket Rahmah and the Malaysian Motorsport Development Ecosystem (MDEV), the Government continues to support the development of future Malaysian racing champions.

More Than Just Racing: Fan Activities Throughout the Weekend

MotoGP Malaysia 2026 will offer spectators much more than the action taking place on the circuit.

A comprehensive programme of activities has been prepared to bring fans closer to their favourite riders and teams.

Among the highlights are:

  • Public Pit Lane Walk and Autograph Session
  • Night Track Tour
  • MotoGP Hero Walk
  • Moto2 and Moto3 Hero Walk
  • Grid Walk
  • MotoGP Fan Zone entertainment and interactive activities
  • Performances by school and university students
  • Motorcycle giveaways for selected ticket categories

Lucky spectators will also stand a chance to win motorcycles sponsored by Aprilia, Lambretta and Kedai Motor Sam Lim, subject to the applicable ticket categories and giveaway conditions.

These activities are designed to create a complete motorsports festival atmosphere, encouraging visitors to enjoy the entire three-day event rather than just Sunday’s main race.

SIC Strengthens Sustainability Initiatives

Environmental responsibility will also be a major focus of the 2026 Malaysian Grand Prix.

SIC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) to introduce more systematic waste management practices during the event.

Several sustainability programmes will be implemented, including waste separation at source, Trash to Gift, upcycled tyre art, Composting on Wheels and the Hero Kebersihan volunteer initiative.

These programmes will be supported by the Respect Our Track campaign, encouraging spectators and event stakeholders to take greater responsibility for maintaining a cleaner circuit environment.

The collaboration will also allow SIC to collect environmental, social and governance (ESG) data to measure the effectiveness of its sustainability efforts.

Malaysian MotoGP 2026: A Weekend Not to Be Missed

With strong ticket sales, Hakim Danish’s much-anticipated home appearance and an extensive programme of fan activities, the 2026 PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia is shaping up to be another major motorsports event.

The potential review of parking rates could provide additional relief for spectators, particularly as organisers continue working towards making MotoGP more affordable and accessible.

For Malaysian racing enthusiasts, the opportunity to witness the world’s fastest motorcycle racers battling around Sepang, while supporting one of the country’s most promising young talents, provides plenty of reasons to attend.
