The premium Honda PCX returns with RoadSync connectivity, traction control, ABS, improved practicality and an estimated riding range of up to 350km.

After a six-year absence from the Malaysian market, the Honda PCX is officially back! Boon Siew Honda has introduced the all-new Honda PCX160, bringing a familiar nameplate into a new generation of premium urban scooters.
Priced at RM12,998, the new PCX160 arrives with a refreshed design, advanced electronic features and the convenience that made the original PCX popular among city commuters.
But with Malaysia’s 150cc–200cc scooter segment becoming increasingly competitive, can the returning Honda PCX160 reclaim its place among the country’s favourite urban scooters?
A Familiar Name with a Premium New Look

The PCX160 retains its distinctive maxi-scooter-inspired design, featuring flowing bodywork, an elegant front profile and a comfortable step-through riding position.
Honda has refined its styling to give the PCX160 a more contemporary appearance while maintaining the premium identity associated with the PCX family.
Malaysian buyers can choose between two colours: Grey and White.
Honda RoadSync – Bringing Connectivity to the PCX160
One of the biggest upgrades is Honda RoadSync, which works with the new 5-inch TFT instrument display.
The connectivity system allows riders to access navigation, calls, music and message notifications through compatible smartphone connectivity.
Following its introduction on the Honda ADV160, RoadSync is now available on the PCX160, making these two models Honda’s small-displacement scooters equipped with the technology in Malaysia.
For daily commuters who depend on navigation and smartphone connectivity, this is a significant addition.
156.9cc eSP+ Engine – Built for Everyday Riding
Powering the PCX160 is Honda’s 156.9cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-valve eSP+ engine.
The engine produces 11.3kW (approximately 15.2hp) at 8,500rpm and 14.1Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, paired with an automatic transmission.
Rather than chasing outright performance figures, the PCX160 is designed around smooth urban mobility, fuel efficiency and everyday usability.
Honda claims fuel consumption of as little as 2.3 litres per 100km. Combined with its 8.1-litre fuel tank, the scooter offers a theoretical range of approximately 350km.
Actual consumption and range will depend on riding conditions, traffic, rider weight and riding style.
ABS and Traction Control for Greater Rider Confidence

Honda has equipped the PCX160 with two important rider-assistance technologies.
Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) helps manage rear-wheel traction, while the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps reduce the risk of wheel lock-up during braking.
The PCX160 uses a front hydraulic disc brake with ABS and a rear hydraulic disc brake.
These systems can provide valuable assistance during everyday riding, particularly when road conditions become unpredictable, although neither eliminates the need for appropriate braking technique and tyre grip.
Everyday Practicality – 30 Litres of Storage

The PCX160 offers a generous 30-litre under-seat storage compartment, designed to accommodate everyday essentials such as a laptop bag, raincoat and other personal items.
Other convenience features include:
- Honda Smart Key System
- USB Type-C charging port
- Full LED lighting
- Idling Stop System
- Comfortable footboard
- Rear suspension with sub-tanks
- 764mm seat height

With a kerb weight of 132kg, the PCX160 is positioned as a practical premium scooter for urban commuting and occasional longer-distance journeys.

i-Moto.my’s Take – Is the PCX160 Worth RM12,998?
The PCX160’s return comes at an interesting time for Malaysia’s scooter market.
Buyers now have more choices than ever, including models offering larger engines, advanced technology and aggressive pricing.
However, Honda’s strategy with the PCX160 appears to focus on a different combination: refined design, practical everyday features, connected technology and established brand appeal.
The inclusion of RoadSync, ABS and HSTC gives the new PCX160 a strong equipment package for its intended role as a premium urban commuter.
Whether its engine performance, suspension comfort and real-world fuel efficiency justify the asking price remains to be seen.
Our verdict? On paper, the Honda PCX160 offers a compelling package for riders who value practicality, connectivity and a premium commuting experience.
