Czech Republic rider, Jakub Kornfeil will partner Malaysian ace Zulfahmi Khairuddin in the SIC-Racing Team next year. SIC-Racing Team team manager Johan Stigefelt said Kornfeil was a talented and experienced rider and will be a huge asset to the team. “I’m very pleased to be able to work with Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and to embark on this new project together with them,” he told reporters here, Sunday.

Stigefelt said he was thrilled to have an opportunity work SIC. “I’m very pleased to be able to test in Sepang regularly. This is great for our riders and I believe this will benefit them (Kornfeil and Zulfahmi) a lot,” he said.  He said it was important to have another established and fast rider who can push together with Zulfahmi to get the results, for both himself and team. On Thursday, SIC’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Razlan Razali had announced the participation SIC Racing Team in the world championship.

“I know what Konfeil is capable of. I have known him since 2012 and he has much talent. He is a dedicated rider who will work hard and I believe he can fight at the top next year,” he said.

Meanwhile, Konfeil said he was delighted to join the SIC Racing Team and was ready to collabrate with Zulfahmi Khairuddin in next year’s season. “After five years in the world championship, I’m happy to be part of SIC Racing Team in 2015. I have a strong teammate in Zulfahmi. I have known him for the past three years, I hope we can work together next year and do well as a team,” said Kornfeil.
The 21-year-old Kornfeil who began his racing career at the age of six in motocross, supermoto and mini-bikes first took part in the Czech 125cc class in 2006.
He went on to win the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2009 and made his Grand Prix debut in 2010.
Kornfeil, who is with Calvo Team in Moto3 category currently, managed to finish in eighth place in the 2014 Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang Circuit.
