I was so impressed with the CFMoto 250NK, (CFMoto 250NK Review Here),  so right after reviewing the Versys 1000, I schedule to review the CFMoto 400NK, which also benefited from Kiska’s design. Well looks can be a bit deceiving here as the first impression of the 400NK bold and futuristic. The 400NK is powered by a 400.4cc DOHC parallel-twin engine. The engine output is 40.9hp @9,000 rpm, torque 34.4 @7,650 rpm. I guess CFMoto visionary built the 400NK as sports touring naked as I mount on the bike first time the handlebars felt a bit weird, as the handlebar don’t match the sportiness of the overall 400NK design. With that handlebar does give the rider to use more effort to tilt the bike upright after kicking the stand. The 400NK weights a shocking 208kg with full tank, and that a heavy bike for this sub 400cc segment.

As I said the previous bike I test was a Versys 1000 which weighs in at 253kg doesn’t feel as heavy as the 400NK. While the 400NK has my thumbs up on the overall design, the weight does give me a little let down compared to the 250NK. Nimbleness has almost none on this model, but with the CST radial tyre, the handling was good felt solid and planted, probably due to the weight factor.

I was trying to get up to speed around 150km/h but there wasn’t any torque or lack of torque felt heavy.

The riding position is too straight for me but confirm, there will be no neck or backache after a 200-300km ride, the position does give a commanding view through traffic. The seats are comfy but the seat lining does get rainwater in after a heavy downpour. Got my pants a little wet riding the next morning. Hope CFMoto does something about this. The large 17-litre tank definitely will give lotsa mileage.  I would also recommend CFMoto put a slipper clutch in a newer version of 400NK as engine braking too is pretty heavy on this version and do lower the overall weight by 20kg at least . Throttle response has a bit delay too.

The front J.Juan brake felt a bit soggy, you won’t get much precision brake but I would think this bike is more for the new riders so precision braking not important, ABS does make it lag in stopping. In emergency braking the initial bite is hard but then the ABS kicks in. I would say this 400NK fit into Sport Cruiser category. Please lose some weight future 400NK’s! or just slap the 250NK frame with this engine! I’m sure with the 250NK frame, 400NK would be a rocket!
