The Yamaha RD250/350LC is one of the most iconic Yamaha of the 80’ies, the glorious smell of two-stroke oil, plumed into the air, terrorizing the neighhood with smoke! Those were the days. However the nostalgic smell of 2T has not been forgotten, but has been revived on a Yamaha XSR900 platform.
In this 20th century, reality is the 2-strokers are smokers and polluters; all manufacturers are required to produce 4-stroke machines. But a UK based company by the name of Velocity-Moto turns out XSR900 in to a retro modern classic 900LC. The hooligan MT-09 XSR platform was chosen.
From a classic 47 horsepower 2-stroker to a modern 115hp 4-stroker which pull a wheelie in 3rd gear without any problem. So the guys at Velocity-Moto decided to produce an upgrade package for the XSR. And the results….. a retro amazing. Like something from the Back to the Future movie that Marty McFly might bring home to his 80’s friends.
I would say that I wouldn’t like to own a classic RD350LC but the XSR900LC is a different story.
A complete body kit revamp that includes side-panel, tail section, seat base and foam, seat cover (with coloured stitching of your choice) nose cone fairing, headlight brackets, LC style clock surround in pre-preg carbonfibre, sat nav unit, sequential shift lights, rar light with led insert and Yamaha wiring connector, rear mudguard, mini indicators, indicator relay, rear light mounting plate, grab rail mounting brackets (grab rail not included but genuine Yamaha ones fit straight on). As well as all brackets, threaded mounts and hardware required to install the kit.
And why an XSR cos its round LED that resembles the iconic LC. Other options include steering damper kits, rearset footrests, fuelling and suspension systems as well as exhausts and brake upgrades.
Complete kit ready to bolt would only just set you back about £1,522. (RM8,155). And all you need to add is enthusiasm and decide what colour you want along with the seat cover stitching!

There are also a number of carbonfibre accessories available and these range from the central tank spine to a rear hugger which has been extended so as to keep crud from being flicked up into the rear shock area. All brackets, threaded mounts and hardware required to install the parts are included. For Malaysia MT-09 owner should also opt to order the XSR900 headlamp as you wont find the headlamp required because the XSR model is not sold in Malaysia.
