Cyclone officially launched RT5 & RT2S to Malaysian Market

Cyclone Malaysia has officially launched two new 250cc-class scooters for the Malaysian market, the Cyclone RT2S and the more premium Cyclone RT5, priced at RM13,888 and RM16,888 respectively.

Both models were first introduced during the Malaysia Bike Show (Mforce MotoXperience 2026) on 29 May and are now officially available locally. Their market launch coincided with the grand opening of Mforce Smartshop KW Keat Wei Motor Sdn. Bhd. in Langgar, Alor Setar, where visitors were also given an opportunity to test ride both scooters.

Cyclone RT2S — RM13,888

The RT2S enters Malaysia at RM13,888, excluding road tax and insurance, positioning it as the more accessible of the two new models.

Power comes from a 247cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve single-cylinder engine producing 19.5kW (26.1hp) at 8,500rpm and 24.5Nm at 6,500rpm, paired with an automatic belt-drive transmission. A 12.6-litre fuel tank provides useful capacity for commuting and medium-distance touring.

More importantly, Cyclone has packed the RT2S with an impressive equipment list for its price.

Highlights include a TFT display, smart key, switchable traction control, ABS, front and rear dashcams, TPMS, adjustable windscreen, LED lighting, USB charging and Cyclone Store app connectivity.

The RT2S weighs 179kg dry, carries a relatively accessible 750mm seat height, and runs a 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheel combination.

It is available in Prestige Black and Strong Grey.

Cyclone RT5 — RM16,888

Sitting above it is the considerably more feature-packed Cyclone RT5, priced at RM16,888, excluding road tax and insurance.

Its 246.9cc liquid-cooled single produces the same 19.5kW at 8,500rpm and 24.5Nm at 6,500rpm, but the RT5 is physically larger and clearly designed with longer-distance riding in mind.

One major difference is fuel capacity.

The RT5 carries a substantial 18-litre fuel tank, compared with 12.6 litres on the RT2S. It also uses larger 15-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels, while dry weight increases to 190kg.

RT5 Gets Some Seriously Premium Equipment

This is where the extra RM3,000 becomes interesting.

Beyond TFT instrumentation, keyless operation, dual-channel ABS, switchable TCS, TPMS and USB-A/USB-C charging, the RT5 adds an unusually comprehensive electronics and convenience package.

It includes dual-side dashcams, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), an automatically adjustable windscreen, motorised side mirrors and even a motorised centre stand.

There are also dual front storage compartments, under-seat storage, an extended footrest, parking brake, adjustable brake lever and Carbit Ride app connectivity.

For a scooter priced below RM17,000, that’s a lot of equipment.

The choice therefore isn’t really about engine performance.

The RT2S is the value proposition. At RM13,888, it already provides ABS, TCS, TPMS, cameras and TFT instrumentation.

The RT5 is the touring/technology proposition. For RM3,000 more, buyers gain the larger chassis, 18-litre tank and significantly more convenience technology.

Two-Year Warranty

Cyclone Malaysia provides both models with a two-year or 20,000km comprehensive warranty, whichever comes first.

Interestingly, if a motorcycle exceeds 20,000km before the two-year period expires, engine components remain covered with unlimited mileage for the remainder of that two-year warranty period, subject to terms and conditions. Original spare parts can also be purchased online through Cyclone Malaysia.

i-Moto.my Take

Malaysia’s 250cc scooter market is becoming incredibly crowded — and that is ultimately good news for riders.

The RT2S has perhaps the easier sales pitch:

RM13,888 for a 250cc-class scooter with TFT, ABS, TCS, TPMS and built-in cameras.

But the RT5 is arguably the more interesting machine.

An 18-litre tank, BSD, motorised mirrors, electric windscreen and motorised centre stand at RM16,888 gives it a specification sheet normally associated with considerably more expensive maxi-scooters.
