Although the bike draws inspiration from the past, CF Moto has packaged it into a smaller, more affordable model. The new bike shares the same engine with the regular Papio – a 126cc capacity single cylinder and air-cooled engine that generates 9.4 horsepower at 8,500 revolutions per minute and 8.2 nM of torque at 6,500 revolutions per minute. The bike also uses the same chassis and swing arm as the standard Papio, with a wheelbase of 1,219 millimeters.
However, there are some differences between the Papio x01 and the standard version. The new model features a half fairing, which makes it wider and taller. It also has upside-down suspension in front and sportier clip-on handlebars. The rear footrest is mounted on a cast aluminum bracket, and there is a chain guard bolted to the rocker arm. The bike also has a stepped model seat that places the pillion relatively high, and the passenger pegs are suspended from the subframe instead of being attached to the rider footrest bracket extension.
