No Public Motorcycles Allowed Into Sepang Circuit During F1 Bahrain GP Malaysia 2026

Planning to ride your motorcycle to Sepang International Circuit for this weekend’s Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix? Take note โ€” public motorcycles will NOT be allowed to enter the SIC grounds from Friday through Sunday.

Sepang International Circuit (SIC), together with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), has introduced a new traffic-management plan for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix Malaysia 2026, with one major change particularly relevant to Malaysian riders:

Public motorcycles will not be permitted to enter the Sepang International Circuit grounds during the race weekend.

The measure forms part of a broader attempt to reduce congestion around SIC and improve the movement of the large number of spectators expected throughout the Formula 1 weekend.

Why is SIC banning motorcycles?

SIC Chief Executive Officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif explained that the circuit and PDRM have developed a new traffic-management strategy after years of heavy congestion during major motorsport events.

Since SIC opened in 1999, allowing large numbers of vehicles into the circuit area has contributed to severe congestion during major events, particularly when spectators arrive and leave at similar times.

For this Formula 1 weekend, access will therefore be much more tightly controlled.

Only vehicles carrying a valid parking sticker or parking pass will be permitted through the checkpoints and into SIC’s designated parking areas.

For motorcycles belonging to members of the public, however, the instruction is straightforward:

Do not ride directly to SIC expecting to enter the circuit grounds.

115 Free Feeder Buses From Four Locations

Spectators without parking passes are strongly encouraged to use public transport, e-hailing services or the free feeder-bus network.

SIC, in cooperation with Rapid KL, will deploy 115 free feeder buses from four locations:

  • KLIA Terminal 2
  • KLIA Long-Term Car Park (LTCP)
  • Mitsui Outlet Park
  • Bandar Enstek

These external hubs are intended to reduce the number of private vehicles approaching the circuit itself.

SIC will additionally operate 30 free internal shuttle buses around the circuit area.

Those buses will operate continuously from 7:00am until midnight during the event.

Eight PDRM Checkpoints Around SIC

Don’t expect to ride or drive toward SIC first and work out the parking situation when you arrive.

PDRM will establish eight screening checkpoints on routes leading toward the circuit beginning Friday morning.

KLIA District Police Chief ACP M. Ravi said visitors will be screened before reaching the circuit. Vehicles without the required parking pass or sticker will be diverted.

A total of 700 officers and personnel from the Selangor police contingent will be deployed for traffic management, patrols and security throughout the Formula 1 weekend.

Police have also advised people without a valid event ticket or parking credentials not to travel directly to SIC, as they will not be allowed through and will be diverted.

Important for Malaysian Motorcyclists

This is particularly important because riding to Sepang has traditionally been one of the easiest ways for Malaysian motorsport fans to avoid heavy car traffic during major events.

For this Formula 1 weekend, do not assume motorcycles can filter through the congestion and park near the circuit as usual.

Instead, riders attending the event should plan their journey around the designated transport hubs and available public-transport options.

If you’re travelling with friends, consider meeting at one of the four feeder-bus locations rather than riding directly toward SIC.

The important message for riders is simple:

๐Ÿ๏ธ Going to F1 at Sepang this weekend?

โŒ Don’t ride your motorcycle directly into SIC.
โŒ Public motorcycles are not permitted inside the circuit grounds.
โŒ Vehicles without valid parking passes will be diverted.

โœ… Use public transport or e-hailing.
โœ… 115 free feeder buses are available from four external hubs.
โœ… 30 free shuttle buses operate within SIC from 7amโ€“12am.

This is part of a new traffic-management system, so even regular Sepang visitors should not rely on how access worked at previous events.
